Overland Track Key Points

1: Reserve your place on the overland track:

• Starting a walk on the Overland Track is now regulated, walkers need to book a place
• Walkers have to pre book and pay a walking permit for this track
• Walker registration and payments are available on line at the National Parks Overland Track web site
• There are strict limitations on the number of walkers that can start each day during the peak season
• Party numbers are now set at maximum of 8 members
• All walkers depart from the northern point of the park and exit at the southern end
• If you arrive without a permit you may not be able to start until a vacancy is available
• The general permit rate, specifically for the Overland Track costs $150
• NOTE! In addition to the above $150 an all parks permit of $28 is required, groups up to 6 travelling with us may qualify for a vehicle pass ($58)

2: Book your transport to Tasmania:

• When your Overland Track bookings are confirmed
• Ideally arrive in Launceston or Devonport (these are our main pick up points)
• Flights operated by Virgin Blue Qantas Jet Star and the Spirit of Tasmania ferries arrive daily
• Book local accommodation if you arrive late in the day
• Back Packers YHA Hostels are located in Launceston, Devonport & Cradle Mountain
• Another option are the Waldhiem Chalets operated by the National Parks which are located 7km inside the park

3: Book your land transport to Cradle Mountain National Park:

• We provide Bush Walkers Transport on a open charter basis, obtain a quote from us
